NVIDIA GeForce 750 Ti: Great graphics, bad graphs?

NVIDIA have just released their new GeForce GTX 750 Ti card, based on the Maxwell chipset. It seems like a great card at a pleasant price point and I downloaded NVIDIA's whitepaper. One thing that caught my eye is a graph comparing the GTX 750 Ti's performance to the GTX 480, the flagship card four years ago. It is terribly misleading. This is what it looks like:

Will CERN create a black hole?

On a forum I visited, some people were getting worried about the LHC at CERN in Switzerland producing a black hole. In fact, this seemed to be a rather common public concern. I couldn't resist the opportunity to respond to all the scaremongering. A real physicist will probably laugh at my calculations, but I don't truly care. Even if I'm off by several orders of magnitude, there will be nothing to worry about.

Geometry puzzle

I came across this geometry puzzle a while ago. Many people, even professional mathematicians seem to have problems with it, taking hours or days to solve it. Oddly enough, people with only basic knowledge of geometry seem to do a lot better, often a matter of minutes.
