After updating to the Windows 10 Version 1903, I noticed that my monitors started flickered every few seconds. I've seen it happen every 38 seconds, every 17 seconds or every 15 seconds, but always regular as clockwork and annoying as heck. Rolling back to Windows 10 Version 1809 eliminated the flickering, but that is obviously not a sustainable solution. So what causes this flickering? Is it a Windows 10 bug? Yes. And no.

Adventure Jam 2020 has ended, and I've managed to play all playable games. I've tremendously enjoyed playing all the entries and have voted and left feedback and/or comments on every single one. There's been some great entries again and I think everybody can be proud of what they've done. Some of the games are very short and can be completed in 2 minutes, others are astonishingly huge and sprawling full-length games that could take hours to puzzle your way to the end without a walkthrough. Here, shamelessly catering to my own tastes in adventure gaming, are my own favourites, in alphabetical order:

A new year, a new Adventure Jam. Adventure Jam 2020 ran from 21 April to 5 May, during which the participants have to make an adventure game from scratch in 14 days. It was announced with very short notice, so there was almost no time to come up with a concept or do some design and planning ahead of the actual creation of the game. Unlike other years, this year there was a suggested (not mandatory) theme. In the second level in the first episode of LEGO Batman: the Videogame, you may get stuck being unable to walk up a wall or a pipe in Mr. Freeze's hideout using the magnetic boots. If not there, you may encounter other similar glitches as well, even with the AI-controlled character getting stuck in those same locations in single-player mode. In other cases, the game may freeze (no pun intended) every few seconds. There is a simple workaround for this.

This year's Adventure Jam has yielded some great entries again. Those who, like myself, have entered get to vote on other people's submissions before they go on to the judges. I'm trying to play every single other entry, vote, and leave constructive criticism and/or positive comments on each one. Every team or individual person who took on the herculean task of making an adventure game from scratch in a mere two weeks is to be commended. Whether gorgeous pixel art with full voice acting, a bunch of stick figures, or even a text-only adventure, everybody has a story to tell. Even those who had to drop out or had to submit something they knew was buggy or far from finished should be proud of their efforts.
