2016-02-10: Getting off Outlook.com's junk mail block list

Posted at 2016-02-10 23:04:51 by SHD

Microsoft's Outlook.com is one of the largest email providers in the world and anybody who sends email to customers will encounter plenty of outlook.com, hotmail.com or live.com addresses. As such, Microsoft has to deal with a lot of spam for all those billions of emails it processes and sometimes the spam detection is a bit overzealous. It doesn't take much for your server's IP address to be blacklisted, or you might even inherit a blacklisting from the previous owner of the IP address assigned to your newly commissioned server. Then you get the 550 SC-001 error.

I routinely use Microsoft Virtual Server 2005 R2 SP1 to run a handful of virtual machines for development and testing purposes. One of these VMs is set to run automatically at system boot. Every once in a while, it refuses to start up.

It is a mix of the live tiles from Windows Phone 7's "Metro UI" and the traditional Windows 7 UI. Everybody and their uncle will have an opinion on this. Here's mine. What I've seen leaves me with mixed feelings. As a casual tablet user, I'm loving it. As a deskop PC worker and power user, it fills me with dread.
