2012-11-19: Donation made, but the challenge continues

This weekend, I posted a brainteaser, promising to pay $100 to whomever solved it. Although the decoding algorithm has not yet been discovered, Mr. Batuhan Bozkurt, who found my puzzle through Reddit, did manage to figure out what the second landmark was. He generously suggested that I donate the prize money to Doctors Without Borders. That is an excellent destination for the money, so I was only too happy to oblige:

For years I've had an idea in my head about a way to hide some information in a bunch of numbers. I actually got around to coding an implementation and figured I'd run a competition. The first person who figures out what the famous landmark is described by the second set of numbers below and posts the correct answer in the comments wins $100.

I love logic puzzles. Today, I found two good ones linked on the Hacker News RSS feed. Check them out at Nick Yee's homepage. It didn't take me long to find a solution for the first one... I'm still working on the second.

Here's a series of cool puzzles, if you're a developer (or otherwise a [computer]geek): Toughest Developer Puzzle Ever. Despite its name, I personally didn't think it all that tough as only puzzles 25, 27 and the very last one gave me any trouble. The one is where it tells you that you've won... as you haven't quite. There's one puzzle left there, and it's a toughie.

2004-09-27: Geometry puzzle

I came across this geometry puzzle a while ago. Many people, even professional mathematicians seem to have problems with it, taking hours or days to solve it. Oddly enough, people with only basic knowledge of geometry seem to do a lot better, often a matter of minutes.
